If you’re looking for places to experience this, we’ve listed three of our favorite gardens near Alameda for you to enjoy.
1. The Gardens at Lake Merritt
Located just three minutes away from the Alexan Webster apartments, The Gardens at Lake Merritt boast seven acres of tranquil themed gardens such as their prized Bonsai, Rhododendron, and Mediterranian gardens. As it is wheelchair accessible and offers occasional gardening workshops, this place is great for both young and old alike.

2. The University of California Botanical Garden
Located in Berkeley, The University of California Botanical Garden, is a mere 15 minutes away from your Oakland apartment. The 34-acre UC Botanical Garden is one of the most diverse landscapes in the world, with over 10,000 types of plants including many rare and endangered species. The garden is open to the public by reservation only, for the time being, with a 2 hour recommended visit.

3. Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve
Get off the beaten bath and take a hike at The Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve, a known ecological jewel. The native plant community here is found nowhere else in the East Bay.
